2022 Annual Report (Summary)

The Club held its 114th AGM on Monday the 21 November 2022. The board utilised a scorecard to measure on the goals of the year. Below are the major elements of the scorecard:

  • Club Sustainability & Operational Excellence
  • Strong Membership & Community Engagement
  • Successful Teams on and off the field
  • Upgraded Facility – Fit for purpose to serve the community

Finance

Last season we delivered a very disappointing net loss of $60.5k. We had just gone through a staffing restructure to extract some costs out of the business, our board believed that things needed to change. We were restricted by the Covid Traffic Light System, and we were hoping that we would all be able to go away over the Christmas period. The 2022 Club season was delayed once again due to COVID restrictions.

THEMES

  • Income increased 9% to $743.6k
  • Expenditure declined 11% to $664k
  • Delivering a net profit of $79.5k

POSITIVES

  • Sponsorship increased 33% to $76k
  • The Bar & Facility Hire recovered well over the latter part of the season
  • Increased engagement with our members – Test Luncheon; Golf Day
  • Extracted approx. $54k out of Employee & Volunteer Costs
  • Lower Property & Maintenance spend

NEGATIVES

  • Reduced income received from North & South Trust Funding – down 60% to $18.5k

Thank you to all our Sponsors who supported us through this difficult period. The MRCT who continue to support us. The team coaches and managers who did an outstanding job in getting team sponsors on board. Tim Hyde-Smith & Matt Wall in maximising Government Support opportunities. The Finance Committee who stayed focused, manoeuvring through a stop, start season, reforecasting etc

Both Simon Devoy and Grant Wilson stood down from the board and their respective sub-committees at this year’s AGM. Currently the Club and Board wish to thank both gentlemen and their families for the many years of devoted service to the Club. You both have been dedicated servants to the Club.
