Premier Match Report vs Otahuhu

Marist went into this game guaranteed to hold on to 1st position and hosting rights for the Portola Cup playoffs.

Momentum however is important in rugby, and the team wanted to continue winning.

Marist were forced into a number of changes due to players being unavailable. 3 players in the match day 22 were in line for their 1st cap, Talakai Mahe and Feleti Penitani both starting at prop.  Both players have played for Marist since they left school and have played through the grades from Under 19.

Stating at 7 was Darius Apulu, his first start and only his 2nd game. And off the bench John Alai another player to make his debut, having shown loyal service to Marist.

Both teams looked to play attacking rugby, but tended to push the final pass and make little mistakes.

Marist lead 20-11 at HT, then jumped out to a 30-11 lead after a slow start to the 2nd half. Otahuhu got the final score on Full-time to narrow the gap. Final score 30-18.

A presentation was made to the 3 players on debut as well as Darius Apulu who made his debut 2 weeks ago.

One of the players missing was Salesi Rayasi who's grandfather passed away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Rayasi Family.
