Profile on Victoria Heighway
Victoria Heighway has been a towering presence in the Black Ferns' second row since she made her international debut in 2000 and in 2006 was a member of the IRB Women’s Rugby World-Cup winning side. In 2005 she missed part of the season because of injury but recovered in time to take on England in a two-Test Series at home. She has been nominated three times for New Zealand’s Women’s Player of the Year - in 2001, 2002 and 2004. She holds a BSc Postgraduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science but has grown an interest in architecture and lists her occupation as a builder.

Profile on Huriana Manuel
Huriana Manuel is in her third season with the Black Ferns and tasted IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup success for the first time in 2006. The daughter of former Black Ferns player Liza Mihinui, the young second five has shown much promise since making her international debut in 2005. Originally a halfback, and coached by her mother while still at school, Huriana switched to second five when she joined Auckland club side Marist.

After spending 2004 in Australia, she returned in 2005 to be part of a strong Auckland front row in the Women’s competition and in 2006 she played in her second IRB Women's World Cup after being part of the winning side in 2002.

Profile on Justine Lavea
Justine has been identified as one of the country’s emerging looseforwards. Justine, who is the sister of Vaniya Lavea, has been playing for Auckland in the Lion Foundation Cup since 2000. Aside from rugby, she represented Auckland in softball at Under 13 and Under 17 level and also made the New Zealand Regional Under 17 side. Former All Black Michael Jones is one of her heroes and says former Black Ferns coach Darryl Suasua has had a major influence on her career. She keenly follows soccer and would like to meet David Beckham.

She is a versatile player who can cover both first and second five-eighths. Vaniya has previously represented the New Zealand Secondary Schools mixed touch rugby side (2000) as well as the New Zealand University mixed touch team (2003).
